Social Networks go mobile

Social Networks go mobile

May 8, 2016

Nielsen Mobile, a provider of consumer research to the telecom and mobile media markets, has found that 30% of mobile phone subscribers, who also belong to social networks, use their phone to log onto social network while on the move.

This activity is particularly popular in Spain, where half of social network members used their handsets to check sites such as Facebook and MySpace.

On a percentage basis, the UK tops the ‘Mobile Social Networking Reach’ charts.

Around 810,000 UK subscribers to mobile phones, representing 1.7 percent of all mobile subscribers in the country, used their handsets to visit social networking websites in the first quarter of 2016.

This figure is echoed in the US, where 1.6% of the country’s 4.1 million mobile subscribers accessed social networks via their phones in December 2015.

The most popular social networking activities, carried out via handsets, were sending and reading messages.

Uploading photos, adding friends, and amending profiles were also popular activities.
